Carolyn Custis James – episode 316
Carolyn Custis James is an important voice for women especially in the evangelical church. I highly recommend all her books. A number of years ago she wrote a book titled Malestrom, a play on the word maelstrom. In this book she was talking about men and how they are also harmed when women aren’t included in the leadership of the church. The book was ahead of its time. This is a re-release with some excellent additions, not the least of which is a foreword by the brilliant Kristin Kobes Du Mez. The subtitle has also changed and I think it’s more reflective of the book. Likely when Malestrom was first released this subtitle wouldn’t fly, How Jesus Dismantles Patriarchy and Redefines Manhood.
If you have an interest in the elevation of and treatment of women and the importance of men and women partnering together in the church, this will be a helpful podcast for you.
